Indeed, Ramadan is a golden chance for any sincere soul seeking salvation and true change starting from strengthening our connection with our Creator, which helps us for self-improvement and control of different aspects of our life.

How to change in Ramadan?

In Ramadan, you’re over your desires for 30 days, you’re over your addiction for 30 days, and you’re over your body’s needs for 30 days.

When you learn to control eating and drinking, even abstain from them, you develop the ability to control what’s less essential. If you can resist desires, you can overcome challenges.

These are some pieces of advice for significant changes resulting from fasting and the Ramadan season:

1. Fasting Ramadan increases self-control: A Cornerstone for Real Change

As human beings, we naturally experience anger at times, but true faith requires us to control our emotions and respond wisely. By this, we develop greater patience, strengthen our self-discipline, and cultivate a deeper connection with Allah, not just during Ramadan, but throughout our lives.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Fasting is a shield; so, when one of you is fasting, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor raise his voice in anger. If someone attacks him or insults him, let him say: “I am fasting!”

(Sunan Abi Dawud 2363; authenticated by Al-Albani in Ṣaḥīḥ Abi Dawud).
